
Sicily '43 - The First Assault on Fortress Europe
In order to develop the content of battlefield tours military historians require primary and secondary sources. The best sources come from personal research and the recommendations of colleagues and clients. Keeping abreast of recently published literature is important and ‘Sicily ’43 – The First Assault on Fortress Europe’ by James Holland was a significant new appraisal of some of the key events of Op HUSKY. I was grateful to the Royal United Services Institute for publishing my review of James’s excellent work.
