Testimonials

Through the Sicily Campaign with 231 (Malta) Brigade
"I recently had the immense pleasure of enjoying a Battlefield Study in Sicily hosted by David. We were a very mixed bag of experience and ages yet David managed to deliver a whole series of thoughtful and well-researched stands that appealed to and enthralled all of us. Overlooking the ground that our forefathers covered with such enormous courage whilst hearing the details of their actions really brought home the realities that they faced. David had clearly worked very hard to tailor his presentations to suit us and it was a superb experience."

Following the Cape Breton Highlanders
"David organised and guided me on a tour of my father’s WW2 campaign with the Canadian Cape Breton Highlanders in Italy in May of 2023 . His thorough preparation gave me a wonderful insight into the campaign. He took me to the key battle sites and, most importantly, he gave me a strategic perspective. David was able to draw on a range of sources, that also gave context to the campaign and my father’s role in it. My understanding was enhanced by his willingness to answer questions relating to military matters and discuss what it must have been like for the soldiers at the time. I would have no hesitation in recommending David’s services. Incidentally he is also a tremendous chap with whom to spend a week traipsing around Italy."

My Grandfather on the Asiago Plateau
"David has a very good knowledge of the Italian Campaign during WW1, which is something of a forgotten front from the British perspective. His enthusiasm for the subject is matched by his easy going manner, which made us feel like we’d known him for years. Indeed the whole experience was like a conversation between old friends, as we drove around the plains and mountains of northern Italy stopping of at various points of interest. David created the tour around our specific interests and adapted it as we went along in response to local conditions, like opening times and the weather. The result was a hugely enjoyable and memorable tour. "

Learning the lessons of Operation HUSKY
"Assigned with organizing an annual Battlefield Study for a Military Headquarters, I discovered David to be an invaluable asset. His exceptional guidance during the planning process and throughout the Study itself was evident. David’s passion for military history and meticulous research was palpable as we explored the invasion’s landing beaches, retracing the footsteps of both British and American armies. From Patton’s manoeuvres in the west to Montgomery’s strategic moves in the south, David provided insightful analysis at each stop. His expertise brought World War II history to life, making Operation Husky an immersive experience I wholeheartedly recommend."

Salerno, Monte Camino and Anzio
Throughout the planning and execution of our battlefield study, David provided counsel, experience, and vital knowledge, without which the tour would have been in no way as informative or coordinated. The tour visited several stands that explored the 2nd World War Italian Campaign, starting in Salerno and concluding in Anzio. At each stand, David provided the historical context in a relatable fashion to a group of varied experience and understanding, greatly assisting in their conceptual development. His current knowledge of the local areas visited significantly assisted with the synchronisation and administration of study, and was invaluable throughout when last minute changes were required. I would without hesitation seek or recommend David’s services again."
